Moving into 2022
It's fair to say that the pandemic has changed a lot of things! We are no exception, but unlike some unlucky souls, we've managed to keep going through what have been unprecedented and difficult times.
However, 2022 is looming and we wanted to share with you what we intend to focus on over the next year or so! Bear in mind that this is subject to change - this industry is a fickle thing and we have to chase trends as much as the next person.
Ending 2021
We want to round out this year with an Age of Sigmar compatible release, including trackers, dials and tokens all designed to make your game quicker and prettier. Depending on how busy Black Friday is, expect this either early December or nearer Christmas.
Early 2022
This should see the release of our Warhammer 40K compatible accessories, including tokens, dials, and trackers.
We also want to update our Necromunda compatible token range with some new tokens and consolidate our template range into one product to make things easier to pick up.
There are also a few Malifaux compatible accessory updates we want to get done and they should appear quite quickly in the new year.
Later 2022
We want to have a big N4 update for Infinity compatible products, adding missing tokens and some new bits and pieces.
There's a plan to release Bushido compatible tokens and Stargrave compatible tokens, as both of these games are ones we receive regular requests for. Expect the usual mix of status, condition and modifier sets, plus useful range tools.
We also hope to release a range of generic measurement templates, such as rulers, widgets and steppers, compatible with any current game system.
In the Future
As the year progresses we'll start to see what else the industry has to offer. If there's a game that catches our eye, you can be sure that we'll look into whether or not we can add some useful bits and bobs to it.
Of course, if there's anything you'd like to see tokens for that we haven't listed here let us know so that we can look into it!
What about Terrain?
You may have noticed a bit of a lack of it in the future - this is due to the changes discussed above and the growth of the company moving forward. Unfortunately, the company has had to aggressively shrink to survive, and that's cut down on the amount of time we have available for design work. We've had to cancel custom orders for the foreseeable future and, due to it taking a much longer period of time to do compared to tokens and accessories, designing future terrain products. This doesn't mean we'll never release terrain again, just that it's not a focus for 2022.
So that's us for 2022! We hope that we've been able to provide you with some fun bits and bobs over the last few years, and that we'll be able to continue to do so! Happy Gaming!

]]>If you're living in a galaxy far, far away and you have the irresistible urge to put the rebellion to the torch, then Inferno Squad is for you. FFG have let these elite killers loose and they're about to lay down some serious firepower in games of Star Wars Legion. In Star Wars, the larger your helmet, the more villainous your intentions, and Inferno Squad are sporting some pretty beefy headgear. With access to T-21 and E-11 blaster rifles and two special characters, the team can infiltrate the battlefield, ensuring that you can take the battle to the enemy from the first moment. With accurate ranged attacks and durability, Inferno Squad even provides access to vehicle repair and buffs to nearby units.
If a battlefield full of excoriating laser blasts and murderous light sabers isn't violent enough for you, then maybe Blood Bowl will scratch the itch. Games Workshop's sports game is coming back with a new edition, promising to be honed to perfection with crisper rules, and a variety of in-depth options that the community has known and loved for decades.
Just in time for things to get really interesting in the Blood Bowl universe, the dead have returned to maul the living! Scarier than a Paul Scholes challenge, the teaser pics for the Wolfenburg Crypt-Stealers have to be seen to be believed. What sort of vile malcontent would steal a crypt, I hear you cry? The sort that's commanded by a Necromancer Football Coach and shares a locker room with werewolves and flesh-golems. This is one team that will teach you to be afraid of the dark!
There's some big, red, flame-spewing news coming from Steamforged Games. Their new Epic Encounters project will provide roleplayers with everything they need to enjoy rich, deep adventures supported by a range of miniatures. According to the keynote livestream from Gen Con 2020, the miniatures will not require assembly, and will come with maps and statistics so you can bring them straight into your roleplaying adventures.
The Steamforged team also unveiled new Champions for Godtear, including Jeen the Wandering Warrior. She's fleet of foot and defeats her foes with lots of swift strikes, while her Golden Shrike followers confound the foe's plans, offering you a whole new way to play.
Veterans of CMON's A Song of Ice and Fire: The Miniatures Game that are aligned to Team Renly have reason to rejoice, with the introduction of the Rose Knights. Heavily laden with armour, these great warriors may be slow but their armour is robust and their morale will keep them in the fight. Each time the unit attacks, it regains a wound and inflicts a wound on the foe, weighting the combat in the knights' favour even before the dice have been rolled. If you're commanding a force from House Baratheon and want to ruin your opponent's day, grab some Rose Knights. Not only are they gorgeous (just look at them!) they're also lethal.
If you're on Team Stannis, don't panic. The R'hllor Faithful will be raising their burning blades in service of your cause. But how do they compare to the Rose Knights? At 7 points, they cost the same. They're a little faster, but also a little less resilient, but their morale is excellent. Players can use Faith tokens to force enemies to make panic tests, or to allow R'hllor units to fight immediately after a friendly R'hllor unit is vanquished. The burning blades inflict brutal penalties to enemy panic tests, enabling the unit to punch beyond its class, making it a threat to any enemy. So whomever you see as the next ruler, you'll be able to pick from a wider range of elite units!
That's all for this week. Let us know what you think of these new Epic Encounters sets, and whether you'll be sprinting out onto the pitch come the new Blood Bowl season!
]]>As the great behemoth that is Warhammer 40,000 9th edition passed overhead, we could forgive other tabletop gaming companies holding position until the field was clear. Now that the shock and awe of Games Workshop's launch campaign has started to fade, we can begin to examine what other delights the industry has to offer besides eternal war in the grimdark.
First off, Atomic Mass Games have revealed a bustling roster of new superheroes, vigilantes and threats to humanity. Wolverine isn't the only mutant in the list, as the X-Men explode onto the scene. The sculpts capture the comic book style perfectly and fans of the X-Men movies will soon be able to fight pitched battles between Professor X's team of heroes and Magneto's mutant supremacists. With other awesome characters like She-Hulk and Bullseye, players will have even more choice when it comes to building forces capable of saving the world - or conquering it!
Fantasy Flight Games have also launched a fleet of new models for Star Wars Legion. First up is Anakin Skywalker, who as we all know was supposed to be the chosen one, but ended up killing younglings and plunging the galaxy into darkness. Capable of awesome counter-attacks, he's also weak to temptation, something a canny foe can exploit.
Also coming up is the Republic specialists personnel expansion, to provide the clone army with expert leadership and guidance. Able to use scanners to discover enemy positions and predict attacks, they can assist nearby units by dishing out dodge tokens. Another release on the horizon is Darth Maul, which is very exciting! We're already humming Duel of the Fates while we anticipate his appearance.
Finally for Legion, Clan Wren is swooping down onto the battlefield ready to unleash some Mandalorian fury. With a lethal combination of speed, durability and martial prowess, they use jetpacks and ascension cables to get the drop on enemy troops and their jetpack rockets and EMP grenades can deal with anything the foe can throw at them. Add a Baskad Duellist to the squad and you'll have an answer to any melee challenges, too.
Sticking with Star Wars, a new wave of ships is coming to X-Wing. The TIE/rb is fitted with laser cannons and droid integration whereas the Eta-2 Actis Interceptor relies on its lightweight frame and agility as well as the skill of Jedi pilots. With V-Wings, Tri-Fighters and X-Wing heroes hitting your 3x3 mats over the next few weeks, squad leaders of every faction will find something to fit into their force.
It's been a while since we reported on Star Wars Armada, but our long-range scans have picked up a fleet on the edge of the system. New Galactic Republic Fleet and Fighter sets are en route, led by an impressive Acclamator Assault Ship. The Separatists are amassing their forces too, with Hardcell Cruisers flanking a devastating Munificent-class Frigate. A new set of Fleet Essentials provides players with a wealth of cards including Admiral Akbar, Admiral Piett, and more.
FFG aren't done with us yet! A new KeyForge set is on the way. Entitled Dark Tidings, this new stage in the saga brings 250 new cards into play, allowing players to explore the depths of the Crucible's vast oceans in search of treasure, excitement and amusing deck names. Most interesting is that this set will include Evil Twin variants of several notable creatures, enhancing the richness of this zany game world still further.
For those of you concerned that this edition of Frontline News hasn't been crammed with Games Workshop goodness, don't worry, nothing's wrong. They're still in business! And to prove it, here's the latest from Forge World, Qin Xa of the White Scars. As with many Horus Heresy units, I'm always a little disappointed that they don't also have rules for Warhammer 40,000 as some of these units are supercool. Qin Xa is certainly pretty nifty with the Tails of the Dragon, his matching blades that allow him to select between slicing with precision, and hacking with wild abandon. The White Scars have a unique aesthetic and I'm not personally struck on this particular model, but the base - featuring a slaughtered Contemptor - is superb.
Finally, for those who missed out on Indomitus, the launch box for Warhammer 40,000 9th edition, three new starter sets are being squeezed into drop pods right now ready to provide current players with reinforcements, or new players with a precise entry point into the game. The Recruit, Elite and Command editions all come with a variety of models from the new Primaris and Necron ranges, alongside rules, mats and terrain. Get your war on!
That's all for this week. We hope you're getting the chance to roll dice again, and we'd love to hear your thoughts on the new Marvel Crisis Protocol and Legion releases!
]]>Star Wars Legion's Separatist faction has access to a wide array of units, weapons systems and unique tactical options, and can flood the field of battle with wave after wave of ruthless droids. In an attempt to provide a foil for the more elite units of the faction's enemies, Fantasy Flight Games has bolted together a new brand of deadly machine: the BX Series Droid Commando.
With numerous combat options including vibroswords and sniper rifles, the BX series can also unleash poison gas to neutralise troublesome organic opponents. They're also more manoeuvrable than their cruder comrades, able to scale terrain and keep up with more agile foes. If you're commanding droids, you need to run some of these guys off your assembly lines.
Not every elite unit is programmed with unswerving loyalty to the cause. The Bloody Mummers sell their talents to the highest bidder, ensuring that every faction in CMON's A Song of Ice and Fire: The Miniatures Game has access to a flamboyant detachment of mercenaries. Lightly armoured they may be, but these sellswords - mounted on zorses (see what they did there?) - are hard to pin down. Able to make a free move at the start of their activation, they can easily outflank a careless foe, and although their armour is low and their morale is as poor as you'd expect from warriors who don't care about the cause, they hit hard and can weaken opponents caught in the side or rear.
With 9th Edition Warhammer 40,000 now blazing a trail through a lockdown-suppressed tabletop gaming world, players are already working out how they're going to compete for glory on the battlefield. Games Workshop has already revealed a surefire way for the Space Marines to deal with hordes of lightly-armoured enemies, such as Orks or Cultists: the Gladiator. Armed with twin heavy onslaught gatling cannons (try saying that with your facemask on) and aptly-named tempest bolters, the Reaper variant is a bucket of dice on grav-generators.
Alternatively, the Valiant variant has a couple of multi-meltas and las-talons to put big, smoking holes in enemy armour. The third variant, the Lancer, is armed with a massive laser cannon designed to execute large targets from afar. Looks like the Adeptus Astartes are going to be bringing the rain in this new edition.
The mighty Necron Monolith has been re imagined for the new edition. It's more detailed than before, with sinister malevolence etched into every panel. The sight of a partly-materialised Necron Warrior emerging from the Tardis-like interior of the machine is one of those delightful details we're getting from Games Workshop sculpts these days, and we're sure it's going to provide players with a durable combination of transport craft, tank and mobile bastion.
Finally this week, the Adeptus Sororitas have a new character unit. The Palatine helps to lead the Sisters of Battle towards victory, smiting heretics as she goes. We imagine that she'll provide an aura ability for her fellow warrior nuns, either buffing their morale or combat abilities. We'll just have to wait and see!
That's all for this week. Once again, we happy armchair generals have more units to choose from when assembling our forces. Let us know if any of these are going to find their way into your army!
]]>Corvus Belli is renowned for the quality of its metal miniatures, and its June releases are as exquisite as we've come to expect. In an industry crammed with exaggerated superhuman warriors and smokestack retro-futuristic technology, Infinity's space opera style stands out. Amongst the slew of new models is this supercool Securitate gunman for the Tunguska Sectorial, who wields a Feuerbach, capable of punching holes is organic targets and mecha alike.
Also incoming are the splendid add-on packs for the new two player set, Beyond Kaldstrom. The expansions add to your available troops, including elite units to help you outmanoeuvre, outwit and outgun your opponent.
Someone who's never been outwitted or outgunned is Cad Bane, bounty hunter extraordinaire. Fantasy Flight Games has unleashed this lethal gunslinger onto the Star Wars Legion battlefield, armed with electro gauntlets, smoke grenades and rocket boots - not to mention the ability to manipulate his enemies to tip the scales in his favour. This guy looks like an absolute riot to run and we're looking forward to seeing him in action.
This next one is... well, inevitable. Thanos is coming to Marvel: Crisis Protocol and he looks pretty amazing. Complete with a throne and various components to enable you to build the Mad Titan of your dreams, he'll certainly be a devastating foe to face. Especially if he's wearing the golden oven-glove of destiny!
Modiphius has given players of the Elder Scrolls miniatures game a glimpse of the new Adventurer Followers and Allies sets. The miniatures for this fun game have been very dynamic so far, and these are no exception. Rather than playing like a coherent force, this faction instead allows you to utilise a wide array of skills and abilities to create a Swiss army knife capable of causing your opponents all sorts of problems.
Games Workshop's mass battle game Age of Sigmar is getting another spring clean with the Generals' Handbook 2020. Featuring rules for multiplayer games, Skybattles and a wide array of Battleplans, the tome seeks to increase the size of the Mortal Realms sandpit to incorporate a wealth of new gameplay options.
That's all for this week. If the scenes at Britain's beaches are anything to go by, people are starting to mingle again. For those eager to get back to gaming, stay safe and if you're going to clash with an opponent over an ash-choked battlefield of war and ruin, with nought but a desire for mutual destruction, please do so responsibly! Best of luck out there, people, and as always, happy gaming!
]]>With lockdown loosening, UK gamers are starting to reach for their dice bags again. All that remains is to negotiate a path through the labyrinthine rules and regulations of just what we can get away with under the present conditions. Talking of negotiations (what a silky-smooth segue!) Fantasy Flight Games has unveiled a new unit for Star Wars Legion: Senator Padmé "aggressive negotiations" Amidala!
Players can choose the model's weapons and wardrobe, but it's Amidala's abilities on the field that mark her out. She's able to generate an abundance of green tokens which can then be spent by nearby friendly units, reduce the effect of enemy suppression, and can even infiltrate the battlefield with the Diplomatic Cover ability. She's going to be a force multiplier that will certainly find a place in many Galactic Republic armies.
Dangerous gun-toting femme fatales don't just exist a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. They're also fighting brutal turf wars in the murky underhives of the far future. House of Blades represents Necromunda's next step in fleshing out the underhive and focuses on House Escher. With new units such as the nomadic Wyld Runners, who can attach grenades to their arrows, your gangs will be able to strike hard and fast against their foes. In the latter quarter of this year we'll also see House of Iron, focusing on the Orlocks, with a book dedicated to Van Saar following a few months later. Exciting times for the underhive!
If you prefer your heroines dispensing justice via a torrent of dragonfire, then you'll love this sneak peek from Steamforged Games. Keera is a new character in Godtear, and she's flanked by several dragons. We can only imagine how terrifying this flame-spewing phalanx is going to be, and can't wait for more details.
Talking of formidable ladies with a penchant for dragons, let's take a look at Pariah. The next instalment of Games Workshop's Psychic Awakening series will see Kyria Praxis sally forth onto the grimdark battlefields of Warhammer 40,000. An elite Inquisitor, she carries a stylish and deadly shuriken catapult called Dirgesinger which can pierce even the toughest armour, paralysis grenades and a familiar with the ability to sling Smites at enemies that would otherwise be safe from such psychic attacks.
Also in this tome are new warlord traits, psychic powers and stratagems to add to the inquisition's arsenal. On one hand, this all means that the new edition will still require players to juggle several hardcover books at once when running an army - even if that army only consists on a single faction. On the other hand... some of these new rules are glorious. Just check out 'Clandestine Operation' for 1 command point!
Want to get in close and unleash the insidious powers of the Telesthesia discipline on an unsuspecting foe? Well, grab a copy of Pariah and you can do just that!
Coming to upset the Imperium's party is Illuminor Szeras. Another character from Pariah, he's seems to be the fiend responsible for granting the Necrons their tragic brand of immortality. With Blackstone technology and super-advanced weapons, he's going to present a real problem for humanity's heroes... and a wonderful challenge to miniature painters.
That's all for this week. Will you be fighting alongside the inquisition to preserve the light of humanity, or helping the Necrons turn everyone into Egyptian Cybermen?
]]>It's impossible to ignore the juggernaut that is Warhammer 40,000. For decades it has dominated sci-fi tabletop gaming and soon we're going to be seeing the launch of ninth edition. There's already been a shed-load of speculation on how this edition is going to differ from the previous iteration, but Games Workshop has provided us all with enough information for us to start weighing things up.
First up, this edition is going to give tanks their edge back. In 8th, tanks felt like big infantry. Only with a vastly greater number of guns and wounds, and armour so thick you could bounce tactical nukes off it. But they could be neutralised by mobbing them with cheap infantry, which always left players feeling a little salty. Well, in ninth edition tanks will be able to shoot in combat in order to punish anyone who gets too close! Now, be warned, the rule itself - Big Guns Never Tire - is a bit of a word salad, so make sure you've had a coffee before you read it. But it's good news for treadheads!
Ninth Edition has also attempted to solve the issue of smaller, more elite forces simply being swamped by horde armies. New Blast Weapon rules boost the effectiveness of certain weapons against large units of enemy models, making frag missiles and grenades an effective deterrent, even against massed ranks of orks and tyranids. The rules themselves are nice and simple, increasing the minimum number of attacks made by the weapon depending on the size of the target unit. It's a pretty elegant and fair approach.
Now, one of the key features of any wargaming table is terrain, but too often in games of Warhammer 40,000 it takes a back seat, or serves a merely decorative function. One of the things I was excited to see in this new edition was how terrain was made relevant again, and whether it would force players to make sacrifices in order to seize a position on the table. Other tabletop games such as Infinity, Battletech and Warzone utilise terrain in a very strategic way; you can read the table, and with a little skill and judgement swing things in your favour simply by choosing to move to a certain point, forcing your opponent to make difficult decisions in order to get a bead on your units.
The perfect opportunity to shamelessly plug our Habitas terrain!
So now that we've had a glimpse of the new terrain rules, how do they stack up against these admittedly high expectations? Well, they certainly move things in the right direction. The new rules are all about keywords, so before the battle players will determine what sort of cover a building is (usually, this will be obvious). Obscuring terrain prohibits units from shooting through it, but they can target enemies that are within it. So, if your table is full of buildings with gaping windows, it won't be a duck shoot from turn one, because players won't be able to draw line of sight through several different buildings.
We're keen to see the whole set of rules, but one thing is clear: terrain matters now, and that's great news in terms of strategy and tactics.
So what about the contents of the box? Well, Games Workshop has lifted the lid on this already, and the models are pretty awe-inspiring. Primaris marines are now getting powerswords, neo-volkite guns and storm shields. If that's not exciting enough, wait until you see the Eradicators who are armed with - are you sitting down for this? - "long-range melta rifles". Dear lord.
The new Space Marine toys are great, but boy are they going to need them. The Necrons have had a boost too, with new and terrifying units joining the fray. Tooled-up with enmitic annihilators, characters like the Skorpekh Lord will be more than a match for most enemies, whereas Plasmacytes float through the Necron lines, buffing their allies and making them even more dangerous.
This being Games Workshop, we're already seeing glimpses of what's coming after the Indomitus box. One of the upcoming units is the Invader ATV, which is... well, it's a Primaris kit car. I've loved every Primaris release so far, but this one leaves me a little cold. It's certainly a fun sculpt, and I'm sure it's going to appeal to younger players, but it feels a bit old-school for a breed of Space Marine that usually zooms around using grav technology.
The Firestrike Servo Turret is another tool in the Imperium's arsenal against the Necrons, but as with the Invader, I'm not starstruck. We've already seen Suppressors flying around wielding one of these cannons, so a single platform armed with two isn't particularly impressive. Plus, it reminds me a bit of those gun platforms from the Space Crusade expansion which at least had a twin lascannon. However, suppression fire is great in 40k and with Primaris now sporting close combat weapons maybe these platforms will see a fair bit of use. I just wanted a few more barrels.
There's more in store for the Necrons too, including the Canoptek Doomstalker. Armed with twin gauss flayers and the hulking Doomsday Blaster, this is going to solve any issues arising from enemy tanks in a single blast of lurid green light.
Now, with a new edition incoming and the promise of many games of 40k on the horizon, we've been adding to our armies. I've been working on an Imperial Knight which will fight alongside my Dark Angels. With a couple of spherical magnets, I've given the model a bit more flexibility in posture, opening up a few more dynamic poses!
There have also been a few Battletech games going on via Zoom, and I managed to get a few new models painted up. Aside from the metal Marauder, here's a Valkyrie and Destroid from Kidslogic. Battletech fans will know these by other names, of course, and they've already been melting steel on the battlefield.
That's all from us this week. How excited are you for ninth edition, and are you tempted by the new Primaris and Necron forces? Let us know what you've been doing, hobby-wise, too!
]]>
A Song of Ice and Fire: The Miniatures Game has a history of delivering stunning and characterful miniatures, and we've had many a cracking game of it in the bunker. It's been some time since we mentioned it here though, but even pandemics can't stop the approach of Winter... and new boxed sets are on the way to bolster your armies!
First up, Baratheon Heroes I contains a wealth of unit attachments and NCUs, with some being unique to forces loyal to Stannis, whilst others will only fight for Renly. Stannis himself gives units the R'hllor keyword, making the troops he's commanding Fearless and unlocking various tactics for use in battle.
If you're on Team Renly, CMON has got you covered. Renly's Unwavering Charisma provides immunity to enemy tactics, forcing your opponent to change their strategy on the fly. Brienne, meanwhile, enables your force to hit harder in combat, making this wing of Baratheon durable and aggressive. It's really interesting to see a faction that is split down the middle, so collectors of this army who purchase both sets will effectively have two different ways of playing, which is sure to keep opponents guessing!
Talking about keeping people guessing, speculation about the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 continues apace this week. Games Workshop has released some new information about this latest set of rules, enabling players to develop a clearer idea of how 9th edition will build on the foundations laid by the previous iteration.
We can see that the way Command Points are accrued has been overhauled, making the system a lot simpler and, let's be honest, fairer. This also means that players can rock up with less conventional armies and still have a decent number of CPs, which is awesome. Command Points can be used to unlock other detachments to create a more varied force. More stratagems are in development too, for example 'Cut them down!' which allows your units to punish retreating enemies with a torrent of mortal wounds!
What's more, the new edition is introducing special actions into the game, which sounds very interesting. The examples given are planting homing beacons or raising banners. It'll be fascinating to see how this functions, and just what agency this adds to the player turn. We can't wait to hear more about how secondary objectives add spice to the missions, too, and what the app is going to include.
When you see what the Necrons are bringing to 9th edition battlefields, you'll be hoping that one of the new actions available to your squads is 'run screaming in the opposite direction.' Armed with Hyperphase Reap-Blades (which do exactly what it says on the tin), the Skorpekh Destroyers inflict AP-4 hits that will even have Terminators thinking twice about teleporting in close to the enemy line.
The new Blackstone Fortress expansion Deadly Alliance is finally here! It introduces the Archivist, a Zoat character who can also be taken as a mercenary in any Warhammer 40,000 army. Looking forward to seeing what he brings to the table!
If you're wondering how your Chaos forces can keep pace with all these new rules and characters (not to mention Zoats), then fear not. Fabius Bile is returning in the next instalment of Psychic Awakening and he's sure to be bringing some horrifying surprises for the Imperium. Will Bile be providing a dark and twisted alternative to the Primaris Space Marines? Probably. Will ninth edition see Chaos unleash a new threat upon the battlefield? Certainly. Stay frosty, people, because when Bile's about, you know things are bound to change.
Finally this week, if you're looking for some co-op action for when we're allowed to mingle again, or if you just want to invest in a game with a topical name, we urge you to look at Nemesis Lockdown. This brutal and gorgeous sci-fi survival horror is the follow-up to the remarkable Nemesis game, and does not require the original game in order to play. Check out the Kickstarter page here! Just do it with the lights on, because this alien menace is absolutely terrifying!
That's all from us this week. We hope you're all staying safe. Let us know what you've been up to hobby-wise, and what new expansions and games you've got your eye on!
Greetings, fellow bunker-dwellers. By now we're sure you've heard the news that a new edition of Warhammer 40,000 is on the way. Games Workshop's sci-fi wargaming behemoth has barely paused for breath since the late 80s and although it only feels like yesterday when 8th edition turned things upside down by standardising infantry and vehicle stat lines and introducing stratagems, a new edition might just be what the painboy ordered.
If you haven't watched the trailer yet, visit the new 40k website and check it out. Sure, we've been spoiled rotten by the quality of the Astartes vids, but you'd have to be super-jaded to not enjoy seeing Space Marines and Sisters of Battle team up against a devastating Necron assault. Spare a thought for the poor guardsman too, who takes a gauss blast to the face for the Emperor. Poor blighter.
The current edition of Warhammer 40,000 has been an absolute riot, but the bloat was real. The rules developed organically, as player feedback poured in, and although this honed the game and made it a sharper and more engaging experience, it also made the edition feel unfixed, perhaps even unfinished. By the time we saw new rules for bolters and a range of doctrines for the Astartes, the game was already becoming a bit of a sprawl. Don't get me wrong here; I welcomed all of the rules changes and developments, but it added several layers of complexity (or rather, detail) that were, I feel, to the game's detriment.
9th edition promises to pull everything together into a manageable whole, which is something we should all welcome. With the announcement that the core rules will be free, to the promise that codexes will remain valid, the switch to 9th should be quite smooth. Command points will be rewarded for sticking to a single codex, so players won't feel forced to take cheese such as the Loyal 32. Other rules tweaks allow tanks to shoot in combat, and flyers will feel more like airborne units and less like... well, really fast tanks.
One thing that excites me about the new edition is a renewed focus on terrain. Instead of just being merely decorative, buildings will allow troops to benefit from fortifications and cover in a more effective and characterful way. This promises to make taking and holding buildings a matter of real strategic benefit.
Players will also be able to use their reserves more intelligently, holding them back until the right moment and attacking the enemy line where it is weakest. But the great ideas don't stop there; in 9th, explosive weapons such as frag missiles will be more effective against large squads of foes, providing even the most elite and tight-knit force with a response to overwhelming enemy numbers.
All in all, 9th edition sounds like the final evolutionary form of 8th, taking on-board feedback from the community and tournament players and cementing everything in place. With talk of a dedicated app for army building and a way to play various sizes of games - from lunchbreak battles to epic weekend clashes - there's a lot to get excited about! There's bound to be a lot of speculation about what the core rules will eventually look like, but it's certainly got us interested.
'But what about Psychic Awakening?' Well, that's continuing just as before, with news of the Adeptus Mechanicus returning to the fray. Serberys Raiders and Sulphur Hounds will be racing across the Martian vistas, blasting the enemy with all manner of ancient and terrifying technology, whilst the Pteraxii swoop overhead, raining down doom with their phosphor torches.
The sinister Martian cyborgs have become one of the most exquisitely-detailed and characterful armies of the 41st Millennium, and with these new units and rules they'll be showing xenos and heretics alike that it isn't just genetically-enhanced supersoldiers who own the rights to the mantle of Humanity's Protectors.
In other news, Fantasy Flight Games has offered a more in-depth look at the most recent KeyForge set, Mass Mutation. Dark Aember has unlocked new and powerful forms and abilities, reshaping the game we know and love into something truly strange! Fan favourites return in mutated forms, with each house replete with methods to either boost or brutalise mutations. The Enhance keyword enables the introduction of Bonus Icons to make your cards even more effective and adding a whole new level of depth. So what are you waiting for, Archons? Go and get mutated!
Finally this week, Atomic Mass Games continue to pour out quality miniatures for Marvel Crisis Protocol. If you're a fan of superheroes and miniature wargaming, and haven't taken a closer look at this awesome game yet, what have you been doing? If you're already hooked on superhero skirmish, the team at OnTabletop recently took a sneak peek at a couple of webslingers that are sure to catch your eye!
Well, that's it for this week. Are you stoked for 9th edition, and if so, what do you hope to see emerge in the coming weeks and months? New weapons, the return of the Squats, Zoat army boxes? Let us know in the comments!
]]>Greetings, fellow Vault Dwellers! When it comes to taking a break from the same four walls, nothing says escapism like a new Age of Sigmar army. Following the etch-a-sketch end of the universe that was the end of the Old World and the beginning or the Mortal Realms, the Lumineth Realm Lords picked up the pointy helmets and sweeping capes from the High Elves and ran with them. The result is an army that looks stunning.
But every general knows you don't win wars with aesthetics. You win them with massive magic swords with sickening special rules. Games Workshop has provided an insight into what makes the Light of Eltharion such a master duellist, combining an impressive array of accuracy, rending and damage with bonuses to the wound roll for charging and extra mortal wounds on rolls of 6. Coupled with his remarkable durability it's going to be hard for Lumineth players to leave this warrior on the benches.
If you're looking for a nostalgia hit, this lovely article on the humble Zoat is sure to hit the spot. Many will remember the heady days of flock bases with green trim (in the 90s, even Necromunda gangers ran about on beautifully-maintained lawns). Back then the Zoats fell under Tyranid dominion, appearing in battle alongside genestealers and termagants. Now, they're a sinister and ancient race with a presence in the Blackstone Fortress, and they look amazing.
With so many gribbly aliens appearing out of the shadows of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, armed to the teeth with exotic and fearsome weaponry, humanity is going to need an effective deterrent. We recommend nuking the sight from orbit.
If dropping high explosives from a great height factors into your battle plans, then rejoice, because the Adeptus Mechanicus Fusilave provides the solution to xenos incursions. With the option to equip it with tectomagnic bombs, mechanicus armies will be pulverising their foes with seismic waves for centuries to come!
If you're looking for a fun, inventive game to see you through lockdown, take a look at Dream On! from CMON. This print and play taster for the full game provides you with 56 cards, challenging players to enter a wildly imaginative collective dream, which they are then challenged to remember. This is a really clever idea, and should keep the whole Vault entertained!
If you're the kind of gamer who dreams of piloting giant robots, there's still time to sign up for Catalyst Games' kickstarter for Battletech: Clan Invasion. One of the few wargames to rival Warhammer 40,000 in terms of longevity, Battletech is still going strong, and the new sculpts from Catalyst have taken on board the new, militaristic look of the MechWarrior series whilst still retaining the essential character of the original designs. It may not have been designed with this is mind but it is also a fun solo game, allowing you to recreate some of the key battles that have been waged throughout the Inner Sphere's long and turbulent history.
Finally this week, another reminder that you can still snipe, hack, impersonate and assassinate your enemies, even in lockdown. We've been playing plenty of games on Steam using Tabletop Simulator, including Infinity. Many players in the community have been using this platform to try out the new rules for CODE ONE, seen as not only a gateway to Infinity for new players, but also a quicker, leaner version of the main game for those with just an hour to kill. If you've not tried Tabletop Simulator, we heartily recommend it!
That's all for this week. We hope you're staying safe and healthy, and that you're still managing to get some games in!
]]>Remember those days when Necromunda miniatures were cool toys to paint up and push around a table, and not actual role models to emulate in order to survive the end times? By now we probably all know at least one person whose current wardrobe can only be described as 'grimdark chic'. Thankfully, the unstoppable machine that is Games Workshop is still providing us with post-apocalypse fashion inspiration, so we can look our best when we're enduring the worst.
Not only are new Rogue Doc models on the way, gang leaders can also draw on the help of Gang Lookouts to help protect the hideout from sneak attacks. With a new range of Escher special weapons en route too, there's never been a better time to be a Space Amazon.
Now, of course we're all hoping that the current situation improves quickly, and we can all go back to some semblance or normality. But if we don't, it's comforting to know that transferring ourselves into undying robots is always an option. To illustrate the appeal of this, let's take a look at Illuminor Szeras, the new Necron poster-bot. Imagine this merciless chrome fiend stalking the grimdark battlefields of Warhammer 40,000 and shudder!
I know what you're thinking. We need a hero. Right on cue, here comes Saul Tarvitz, hero of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. This righteous death-machine has had a Horus Heresy stat line since 2012 and now he finally has a model, and as you might expect, it's gorgeous. Even if you don't play Horus Heresy, if you're a Space Marine player this guy will make an ideal Captain.
The new Blackstone Fortress expansion will make even the most pacifistic players reach for their power swords. In Ascension, the final entry in the Blackstone Fortress grand narrative, you'll take on a host of new enemies including hulking Guardian Drones which make the Ambull look diminutive.
Let's take a break from the bleak vision of a battle-ravaged far future, and turn our eyes to the fantasy realms. Yes, these too are battle-ravaged, but there's no shortage of spectacle and you don't get more jaw-dropping than the Sons of Behemat. To get an idea of just how big these new Age of Sigmar giants are, that's a human skull on the base. This guy is going to be crushing Stormcast Eternals underfoot!
But it isn't just the threat of giants that should have the mortal realms cowering in fear. A new team is being introduced in Blood Bowl and they're all set to transform the game and sweep all opponents aside with brute force and peerless skill! Well, OK, maybe they won't be doing quite that well... but at least they'll put a smile on the faces of the spectators. The Snotlings might make the Halflings look like Brazil but they do have a pump-wagon which is as bonkers as you might imagine!
Players of a certain age will remember the original DOOM, id software's FPS leviathan that transformed the world of videogames. Some of us remember the game that preceded it, Wolfenstein. Now, there's a boardgame on the way which brings this game of good against evil to life in gorgeous plastic! Wolfenstein: the Board Game is live in Kickstarter now, and if you want to learn more, the awesome team as OnTableTop have a great piece here which will answer all of your questions!
If all this isn't exciting enough for you, Infinity Code One is now live! Promising to provide new players with a fast, fun and straightforward gateway into the Infinity universe, and veteran players with a quick 45-minute blast of tabletop goodness, Code One takes the core elements of the game and streamlines them. If you haven't played Infinity and want to find out why it's hailed by many as the most dynamic wargame rules set out there, take a look at the rules and the army builder now!
Finally, we've been hobbying as much as possible in the Art of War Studios Bunker. Chris has been getting into Battletech and has his first Lance ready, painted up in House Davion colours. In the coming weeks we'll start sharing some more pics of what we've been up too, and we'd love to see some of your own projects!
So that's it for this week. Let us know what you've been painting and playing, and how the hobby has been helping you through these difficult times. Stay safe out there people, keep smiling and keep rolling those dice!
]]>Let's get one thing out of the way. It's a tough time for a lot of people right now, and although we're starting to hear positive news from Spain where the rate of Coronavirus infection has plummeted to a new low, we still don't know how long the current situation is going to last. So if there's a time for us to take solace in the hobby, and to appreciate the tabletop gaming community, it is now.
So before we take a look at the admittedly reduced amount of news that's out there at the moment, it's worth mentioning how many players are building new friendships and finding support bases (as well as opponents!) on Discord and on Steam via Tabletop Simulator, or just joining their mates for a painting session via Zoom. The team over at OnTableTop have opened their Discord server up, so check that out!
There are all manner of apps out there to enable us to reach out, so if you're feeling isolated or anxious, just seek out the army of friendly gamers just like you who are ready to chat, paint or play.
Now that the important issues are out of the way, let's talk shinies. Remember that adorable limited edition silver Naboo N1 Starfighter? Well, if you want a chance of securing one for your squadron, you need to register your interest ASAP! Starting next week, Fantasy Flight Games will be drawing names out and if you're amongst them, you'll be able to pilot one of these beauties in your games of X-Wing. So scramble!
Games Workshop is still shaking things up in the Warhammer 40,000 universe with Psychic Awakening. The latest update sees the Deathwatch get some new toys. Not content with variable ammunition for every occasion, the Deathwatch now get some awesome new Stratagems.
As well as bolstering the survivability of their Dreadnoughts, the Deathwatch can also add +1 to the hit rolls of their Terminator squads for a bargain price of 1 Command Point, and Intercessors can unleash a veritable storm of gunfire that enables them to hit automatically. If you run Deathwatch, you have to see this. It's going to make your day.
Games Workshop have also released the profile for Lion el'Johnson, AKA The Lion, Primarch of the Dark Angels. It's Horus Heresy-only, of course (until he eventually returns to the 41st Millennium) but crikey does he pack a punch.
So far, so in-line with other Primarchs. But the Lion has tricks up his sleeve. When his wounds are reduced, his attacks increase. Couple that with his 'Absolute Focus' which lets him hit any foe in close assault on a 4+ regardless of their WS, and a choice between slicing and dicing with the Lion Sword or driving the foe away screaming with the Wolf Blade, and he becomes a screaming grimdark lawnmower of death. If you can imagine such a thing.
Finally this week, Steamforged Games have released more information on their upcoming game Resident Evil 3. The models look gorgeous and the tiles are evocative and beautifully detailed. If you're a fan of weird monsters, zombies and hi-octane action sequences, you should check this out.
That's all for this week's news. We hope you're staying safe and that you're coping with this unprecedented situation. Remember that the community hasn't disappeared. Just because we can't go to the local FLGS doesn't mean that we can't still engage in virtual battles or just chat about the hobby over an app. So keep your chins up, people. See you on the other side of this!
]]>Greetings, fellow bunker dwellers! We hope your supply runs have been fruitful and the apocalypse is treating you well. This week brings us some lovely new shinies to provide some much-needed escapism. So let's dive in!
Games Workshop unleashed the second part of their online preview, and right at the tip of its shining spear is a brand new army. The Lumineth Realm Lords box contains everything you need to bring the High Aelves back to the battlefield. This veritable crate of arcane might contains the Light of Eltharion, 10 Auralan Wardens and 5 Dawnriders, as well as a gauge, dice and limited edition battletome - the perfect gift for pointy-eared armchair generals everywhere!
Now, the Aelves are known for their affinity with woodland spirits, so it's fitting that the next reveal was a new Treeman for Blood Bowl. Not only does this mini have a high level of detail, there's a real sense of fun involved here, too. The miniatures for this specialist game have been excellent, and this is a worthy addition to the line.
Warhammer 40,000 players have plenty to be entranced by, too. Black Library heroine Ephrael Stern and her comrade Kyganil have been cast in plastic, and they look stunning. Not only are models posed in a dynamic fashion, the scenic bases are excellent, too. Whilst Ephael will fit in nicely with an Adeptus Sororitas army - or function as a great character model - both will be available for Imperium players, offering even more choice for those seeking to protect Humanity from xenos and heretics alike!
Finally from Games Workshop, we have some new Praetor models for the Word Bearers. The detail on these models is amazing, and any Chaos Space Marine player would struggle to find a place for one of these in their army. Although they're designed for games of Horus Heresy, like a lot of models in that range they can easily be utilised as proxies in games of Warhammer 40,000.
There's been some awesome news from Steamforged Games! The minds behind Guild Ball have given the roster of players an overhaul, tweaking their stats and plays to ensure that the game remains as balanced and fun as possible. As part of the Errata 4.3 report, Maatagi has had buffs to his influence efficiency, playbook and HP to make him more appealing to coaches.
Other players like Katalyst have been stripped back a little following recent buffs that left them a little bit too strong. Little tweaks to this model have made him a little slower and reduced his damage output without reducing his appeal. If you're a Guild Ball coach make sure to check these updates out right away!
Finally this week, we just want to take a moment to say how important it is that we keep in touch with friends and fellow gamers during this difficult, unprecedented and frankly weird time. Make the most of the awesome tabletop gaming community, play some RPGs on platforms like Zoom perhaps, or check out Tabletop Simulator. Social distancing rules only apply physically... there's no reason why we can't all keep each other entertained and sane whilst we continue to play our favourite games... or discover some new ones.
If you've got any great ideas of how to pass the time in quarantine, let us know. Whether you're still working, on furlough or just taking this opportunity to catch up on your miniature painting, stay safe and take care!
]]>Greetings, gamers! We hope you've been keeping well, and that the apocalypse hasn't put too much of a dampener on your spirits.
If you're anything like us, you watched Games Workshop's first ever Online Warhammer Preview for a glimpse of some stunning new models. Avalenor, the Stoneheart King stood out, another glorious centrepiece model for Age of Sigmar. He's the Elf equivalent of a Greater Daemon, and comes with multiple head and arm options.
To continue with the hammer theme, which is an interesting look for Aelves, the Alarith Stoneguard are gorgeously sculpted and characterful elite warriors designed to crack skulls and take names.
A new warband has been unveiled for Warcry, too. The Scions of Flame go to battle wreathed in fire and wielding all manner of suitable weapons, such as the flamberge pictured above. Warcry's models have been stunning so far, and with this new release, it's clear that the bar continues to be set very high indeed.
The Warhammer 40,000 releases just keep coming, and this time it's the turn of Fabius Bile, the Chaos Powers' own mad scientist, to get a revamp. You should visit the GW page to see this one, as there's a nice reveal gimmick where you can compare the new model to the old one. The result is very faithful, but brings Fabius Bile up to date with the current aesthetic.
In our last Games Workshop news of this week, the new Lion el'Johnson model has been unleashed for Horus Heresy. And it's grimly amazing. The Primarch of the Dark Angels towers over the hapless Night Lords, and clad in that impassive helmet captures the brutal, driven and secretive nature of the Chapter.
Let's take a look at the latest Guild Ball Squaddie, Ram. Part of the new Shepherd's Guild, Ram is a mounted model with some neat punishment mechanics. Guard the Flock is a useful ability to protect other team members, but Baa-ttering Ram really stands out. This lets Ram push enemy models 4" as it rampages across the pitch. Repositioning can be incredibly game-changing, so this is a really strong option. But onto that punishment rule - if Ram is Taken Out, all friendly models gain +2 ARM for the rest of the turn. This is pretty powerful stuff, and the Shepherds are shaping up to be one hell of a team.
It's been a dazzling few days for Star Wars Legion players. First off, we had a glimpse of Clan Wren, bringing more Mandalorian Chic to the tabletop. Armed with sabres, blaster pistols and jetpack rockets, these sweet-looking minis are sure to whet the appetite of any Star Wars fan.
Also new from Fantasy Flight Games is the grim and ruthless Inferno Squad. Stealthy, adept and armed to the teeth, these elite troopers will make their presence felt in any scenario.
If you're looking for a high-speed option for the Republic then the AT-RT might be just what you're looking for. The pilot carries a rocket launcher but the walker itself can be kitted out for any eventually, including a flamethrower for close encounters and a rotary cannon to thin out the enemy's ranks.
Separatist commanders should not feel left out. Screaming over the hilltops come the STAP riders - single trooper aerial platforms - blasting away with their cannons. Highly manoeuvrable and able to provide the army with advanced scouting information to facilitate crushing victories, STAP riders not only look good, they fulfil an essential battlefield role, too.
Finally this week, meet Liang Kai, the Wandering Shaolin Monk! This new character for Infinity has a chain rifle and light shotgun, Martial Arts Level 4 and mimetism, making him a veritable killing machine capable of taking down any foe. We expect world-class models from Corvus Belli and this is no exception; the pose of the model is amazing and the scenic base is full of character.
That's all from us, back to the bunker rations! Hope you're all staying safe out there. Let us know what you've been doing to keep cabin fever at bay!
]]>Let's begin with some anime-infused space opera skirmish! Corvus Belli has announced that its latest boxed set, Operation Kaldstrom, will be the gateway to its new streamlined rules system, Code One. Promising to reduce the length of games and the complexity of the rules, whilst remaining true to the cutting-edge dynamism that makes Infinity so addictive and unique, Code One is bound to shake thing up for sci-fi skirmish players.
Operation Kaldstrom will introduce two new sectorial armies for the Pan Oceania and Yu Jing factions. We're already excited about the new profiles - such as the Nokk and the Knight of Justice - and it's going to be fun having a whole new way to play.
Steamforged Games have released more information on the new Shepherd's Guild for Guild Ball. First up, Lamb is a great support player, able to dish out HP to his comrades and weaken enemies for allies to take down. Lamb might be an easy target but he has a hefty 20 Health and leaves 5 Harvest markers anywhere on the football pitch if the enemy takes him out.
The captain of the guild, Herder has a great character play allowing her to execute some very tricksy combos. Rest assured that you'll be playing some slick football with the Shepherds! Herder can also use harvest markers to protect friendly models from being tackled, but the most exciting thing about this player is her punishment mechanic. If she is taken out during the Activation Phase, all friendly players receive Influence up to their maximum, so even if she's in a vulnerable position you can still give her Influence, safe in the knowledge that if anything happens to her, the rest of the team can come together and take the fight to the opposition.
The team's Mascot is Babe, and despite his diminutive size, he has some useful pushes and can deposit harvest markers to aid the rest of the team. If an enemy takes Babe out, that model becomes Singled Out for the rest of the turn. Even more interesting is his ability Pack Mentality. If a friendly model in 6" that isn't already knocked down suffers damage from enemy attacks or plays, it may make a 1" dodge pigwards. This is a neat way of pulling friendly models away from beatsticks, helping keep the Shepherds conscious and playing!
Switching our gaze from the football pitch to the burning sky, it's time to take a look at what Aeronautica Imperialis is sending our way. The T'au Tiger Shark can be outfitted with rail guns, burst cannons or ion cannons, as well as a battery of missiles. Also screaming through the ragged cloud is the Arvus Lighter, an Imperial transport designed to get personnel safely out of the hotzone!
As the Imperium fights off the Xenos in the clouds above, war continues to rage on the ground. The Space Wolves are now back in the heat of the action in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, and with their new rules they'll be carving through the enemy ranks in no time.
Ragnar Blackmane will be leading the line with his 7 attacks (boosted to 10 using the Berserker Rage ability) and through the use of doctrines like Savage Fury, and stratagems like Touch of the Wild, you'll be adding more attacks and inflicting more hits than even the toughest foe can withstand.
The Space Marines will be up against it this time around, though. The new Ork rules really deliver for the greenskins, giving players access to some fun new stratagems. As Ghazkhull shreds tanks with his -4 AP, 4 Damage Klaw, killa kans and other hulking machines will be speeding forward with Orkymatic Pistons as flyers divebomb the hapless foe! Nothing says 'Waaaagh!' like a burning dakkajet swooping at an enemy squad and exploding into a thousand pieces.
With specialist mobs, kustom jobs, hordes of grots, new psychic powers and random teleportation, the Green Horde is coming to lay waste to the Imperium. Let's hope the Space Wolves can give as good as they get!
On that note, it's time to return to the bunker and the joys of quarantine! We hope you're all staying safe and looking after yourselves. Let us know what you're playing to pass the time!
]]>
The green tide is about to be unleashed! From next week, Warhammer 40,000 players will be able to pre-order the latest Big Box 'o Battles, The Saga of the Beast! Not only does this herald the return of the Space Wolves, featuring an all-new Primaris version of chainsword-wielding Space Marine hero Ragnar Blackmane, it also includes the new model for the closest thing the Orks get to a Warmaster - Ghazghkull Thraka!
As we've seen from the pics, he's enormous. The model's a great example of how excess just works when it comes to Ork miniature design, with horn-shaped smoke stacks, multiple ammo drums and a power claw that could tear down a Thunderhawk Gunship.
By now you've probably seen the profile leaks, so you'll be aware that Ghazghkull is classified as a Monster. This means that he can be targeted even if he's not the closest enemy, despite being a character. However, he has a nifty damage mitigation ability which limits the number of wounds he can lose in a single phase. We're sure he's going to have access to some special stratagems too, to ensure that he can butcher as many filthy 'umies as he can!
If you're quivering with terror at the idea of a giant Ork covered in armour plate who can shrug off a salvo of lascannon fire, then Forge World has you covered. The Legion Arquitor Bombard can propel a massive shell of Imperial judgement across the battlefield, with the added option of the Carcass Shell. This special ammunition contains a deadly phage component that eats its way through entire squads. While the Arquitor is designed for games of Horus Heresy, it would make a nice proxy for various other space marine vehicles.
We know what you're thinking. Maybe the best place to hide from the Orks if the Necromunda Underhive! Well, be careful where you tread because it just got a lot more dangerous down in the depths. Scrutinator-Primus Servalen is on the hunt, using her Null ability to deal with pesky wyrds and sending her Cyber Mastiff after any foolhardy gangers who cross her path!
Keeping the Enforcers on their toes are the fleet-footed and tricksy Escher Wyld Runners. Armed with toxin-tipped arrows and whips, these gals are also responsible for training Phelynxes - mutant cats that provide the gang with another method of delivering deadly poisons into the bloodstream of the enemy!
Imperial agent Iden Versio could certainly hold her own as an Escher. Trained from youth to hunt down and neutralise the Empire's enemies, this Star Wars Legion character is a skilled marksman with the ability to deftly dodge incoming fire. On top of that, she can infiltrate the battlefield to open up another attack vector on the enemy force, while her Seeker Droid can incapacitate whole squads, allowing the big guns to roll in and eradicate any hint of rebellion!
Finally this week, there's a new Guild Ball team emerging from Steam Forged Games! The Shepherd's Guild are aligned to the Farmers, with reapers and planters, but have superior footballing skills. As befits their theme, the Shepherds have lots of Pushes, helping them control their opponents, and when one of their number suffers the Taken Out condition, certain members of the team become stronger as a result. This makes the Shepherds a fascinating prospect, able to control the flow of the game but also strike back against opponents who prefer punching to kicking!
That's all for this week! As always, let us know what caught your eye, and which of these new shinies are going to be making their way onto your gaming table!
]]>The Adeptus Sororitas are finally all here! Next week, the last wave of units will be available for this stunning Warhammer 40,000 faction. Soon you'll be able to field your very own Repentia Squads, with screaming eviscerators held aloft!
If you want to hit fast and hard, you can send in the Zephyrim. With jump packs and power swords, these elite fighters are itching to get up close and personal with heretics and aliens alike.
If the above seem too subtle, the Immolator may well be the solution you're looking for. When you absolutely, positively have to burn every single heretic in the room, accept no substitute. Expecting the foe to bring some armoured units? Switch out your flamers for multi-meltas and laugh at your opponent's Armour Save!
What's that, glinting through the jungle foliage? It's the gold trim around a brand new set of rules for the Seraphon! Age of Sigmar's latest battletome details updated abilities and stats for everyone's favourite lizard people, unleashing terrifying new powers onto the battlefield.
Generals will have to choose between the Starborne, who can teleport their units to the precise point where they're needed, or the bestial Coalesced who have learned to thrive in their new homeland and fight with a revitalised ferocity.
Coalesced forces gain extra attacks for any Jaw-based weapons, whilst their Scaly Skin ensures that they soak up more damage from enemy weapons.
Meanwhile, in a galaxy far, far away, new Star Wars Legion units are inbound! Two more of the heroes from Rogue One can now be fielded against the Empire. Cassian Andor is adaptable in the extreme, enabling players to swap between loadout options depending on what the enemy has deployed. Able to turn misses into hits and hits into criticals by spending Aim tokens, he's a deadly operative. K-2SO by contrast can sneak around the battlefield, and cannot be targeted by enemies beyond range one unless he has already executed an attack.
Finally this week, Privateer Press have revealed their new game launching via Kickstarter. Warcaster: Neo-Mechanika is a space opera skirmish game in which players alternate-activate their units, making use of void gates to dynamically deploy their assets where they are needed most. Aesthetically it evokes a move away from the cog-and-smokestack grimdark look, with a more contemporary, cyberpunk feel. The team over at On TableTop have a more in-depth look at this new game here.
So which of the Adeptus Sororitas units have you been waiting for, and will you be annihilating your foes with flame or multi-meltas? And for those of you who prefer to skulk through the jungle with obsidian blades and golden sickles, will you be putting your faith in the Starborne or getting down and dirty with the Coalesced? Let us know!

Fans of the Elder Scrolls should prepare themselves for some dungeon-delving because Modiphius have announced a range of starter sets to support its evocative tabletop take on wargaming in the world of Tamriel. The Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms offers a co-operative, competitive or solo play experience with a fleshed-out AI system.
With starter sets including Stormcloaks, the Imperial Legion, Draugr and more, this game is going to look gorgeous in full flow, thanks to some truly dynamic models.
We're spoilt for choice this week when it comes to superb fantasy models. Later this month, CMON will release the Bloody Mummers for A Song of Ice and Fire: The Miniatures Game. This unit can hit fast and hard, and weakens enemies that are yet to activate, allowing you to control how the battle flows.
Also on the way, thundering across the plan, are the Dothraki Screamers. Highly mobile, this cavalry unit can make a free manoeuvre at the start of their activation. Although vulnerable to missile fire due to their light armour, it's not easy to reduce their ranks and as long as you deploy them intelligently, they'll be a thorn in your enemy's side all game long.
The reinforcements for A Song of Ice and Fire don't stop there. The Baratheon Wardens are also getting ready to bring the hammer down. When their opponents roll 1s for their defense saves they become weakened, which allows the wardens to keep dishing out the pain, endlessly feeding on the carnage wrought by their mighty hammers.
There's a new fighter threatening to dominate the game of Godtear! Going by the name Rattlebone, this sinister champion is able to remove boons and blights and place them on other models, manipulating the battlefield to wrongfoot her opponents. She can also use her characterful Hexlings to pass boons on like batons, while these unique-looking minions harry the enemy with their Hex Bolts, inflicting blights of the player's choice. With Power Hex, Rattlebone can inflict several different blights on an enemy champion, ensuring that no foe is safe from her dark magic.
Of course, in the Mortal Realms, such dark magic would be given short shrift. The Vanari Dawnriders provide the Lumineth with a fast attack option, rampaging across the battlefield to attack the enemy line where it is weakest, or taking out a key target. Fulfilling a medium-weight role, expect these hardy units to display their martial prowess in games of Age of Sigmar soon!
Whilst we're on the subject of Age of Sigmar, there's a new Seraphone battletome on the way! Featuring updated warscrolls and rules for the ancient space lizards, it will also contain rules for the awesome Realmshaper Engine which uses transformative magic to control the battlefield, turning terrain to your advantage!
Spears and steeds have their place, but some foes require a little bit more brute force. Games Workshop has provided another glimpse into the new expansion for Adeptus Titanicus. Shadow and Iron will include a wealth of new rules including cutting-edge weapons options for the Warhound Titan. Ursus Claws are harpoon-like armaments that can haul even the largest enemy Titans to the earth! If that doesn't float your grimdark boat, why not upgrade to a Nitrix Shock Lance and disable the target's shields with a forced Shutdown order!
It's been a whole week since the First Legion got a new unit kitted out with fancy plasma weapons, so of course we were due another one! The Dark Angels Legion Interemptors are armed with short-range Plasma Burners which ignore cover and reroll failed hits on overwatch. Sadly, these warriors seem to have been decomissioned after the Horus Heresy, so they're unlikely to appear on the Warhammer 40,000 battlefield, but that won't stop First Legion players from running them as proxies for veterans with combi-plasma!
Finally this week, the Black Library Celebration 2020 event sees Games Workshop release a stunning miniature for Shield-Captain of the Adeptus Custodes, Valerian, and the Sister of Silence Tanau Aleya. Both are close combat experts, wielding their blades and carving through heretics in service of the Emperor! Check out their profiles here!
That's it for this week. So what new units will you be selecting for your games of ASOIAF? And will you be finding a place in your army for these gorgeous new 40K models? Or are you planning to hack your way through draugr to uncover the secrets of the barrow? Let us know!
]]>In the grimdark universe of the 41st Millennium, where war is perpetual and a violent death is the best fate you can hope for, true heroes are in short supply. Fortunately, Games Workshop have unveiled a character who will certainly shake up our games of Warhammer 40k. That's right, it's the name on everyone's lips - Makari the Grot!
Makari may not be the hero we want, but he's the hero we need! With a seriously dangerous stabba and a 2+ invulnerable save, he'll be shrugging off melta shots and plasma blasts, whilst bolstering nearby gretchin with his impressive leadership of... 6. Alright, so that last feature isn't particularly impressive. But the image of a space goblin sauntering through lascannon fire is the stuff that legends are made of!
Sticking with the greenskins, a new Beastgrave warband has come stomping through the dense foliage, clad in inch-thick plate and wielding the kind of weapons usually used to bring down derelict buildings. Morgok's Krushas were revealed at the New York Toy Fair and they're tough, rough and aggressive!
Games Workshop also announced several new boxed games including Rise of the Orks which pits an elite team of Terminators against a horde of greenskins. The set comes with space marine models only previously available in the Space Marine Heroes boxes so it's a great way of getting hold of these stunning models. Other games include Crypt Hunters - pitting heroes from the Age of Sigmar against sinister undead - and Blitz Bowl season 2!
Talking of space marines, this is going to look awesome on your shelf! Coming from McFarlane Toys, the Games Workshop line starts with the superhuman heroes of the Imperium, but will extend across the Warhammer 40,000 range!
If you prefer to fly through the air with the greatest of ease, slicing through the enemy with railguns or peppering them with punisher cannons, then the latest reveals for Aeronautica Imperialis will blow you away. Not only can you bring Vultures to the game, allowing you to hover and strafe to your heart's content, you can also unleash the lethally swift T'au Air Caste Barracuda.
Tired of being taunted by taun-tauns? Well, Fantasy Flight Games have announced some new updates for Star Wars Legion to bring in line some of the units that were punching above their weight. The update will mean that taun-taun riders will still be able to sprint into combat with aplomb but won't be bouncing from enemy to enemy; they'll have to disengage just like anybody else if they find that they have bitten off more they can chew with an enemy unit!
Lastly this week, another set of stunning models for A Song of Ice and Fire is inbound from CMON! The Skinchangers don't just look phenomenal, each can be bonded to an eagle, wolf or bear. The eagle bolsters charging, even negating terrain effects to help the unit close with its foe. The wolf makes it more likely that attacks will strip wounds off the enemy, leading to even more casualties. The bear is a furious fighter in its own right, and while it needs to remain within a certain range of the bonded Skinchanger, it can batter enemies into submission with its enormous claws.
That's all for this edition! Let us know what you're going to be spending your hard-earned cash on this week, and what games you've been playing!
]]>It's been a good week for Star Wars Legion, with several new units announced. First of all, professional Bounty Hunter Cad Bane has waded into the fight, and will use his electro gauntlets to hold enemies in place while you blast them... if your money's good, that is!
Senator Padmé Amidala is just as comfortable on the battlefield as she is in the debating chamber. Expect her to act as a force multiplier, improving allied units and helping the army keep its shape as the battle rages.
The Galactic Republic is sending in its elite warriors! ARC Troopers swoop in on their jetpacks, sniping the enemy at range or utilising an array of upgrades to fulfil any role their general requires of them.
Not to be outdone, the Seperatist assembly-lines have churned out scores of vicious killer robots. The BX Series Droid Commandos feature advanced intelligence, enabling them to catch the enemy unawares with deadly ambushes and subterfuge, but can also lay down withering fire when the situation demands it. If you prefer getting up close and personal with the foe, equip them with vibroswords and deflector shields and watch the enemy scatter in terror... or be cut down!
If you're looking for an awesome centrepiece for your army - or a means of smashing the enemy line at range - the AAT Trade Federation Battle Tank is sure to fit the bill. With a wealth of ammunition and crew options, the AAT can mow down infantry and punch through armour with fearsome ease, forcing the foe to deal with it while the rest of your army marches onward.
Switching from galactic conflict to a war-ravaged fantasy realm, Grimgut has emerged from the mire to dominate the game of Godtear. With his ability to remove his retchling servants from the board and spew them up via recruit actions, he can redeploy his forces at will. His minions can launch slime attacks against multiple enemies, and are also able to benefit from increased speed with their 'slip and slide' skill. So if you fancy fielding something slimy, hungry and disgusting, Grimgut is the guy for you!
If you prefer your armies a little cleaner and shinier, the Lumineth Realmlords should fit the bill. With their sunmetal spears and exquisitely crafted armour, the Vanari Auralan Wardens make for stunning miniatures, bringing a touch of old-school elven class to Games Workshop's Age of Sigmar universe. We can't wait to see what a whole army of Lumineth looks like. (I literally cannot wait; I collected High elves years ago! - Grantt)
Now spears are all well and good, but I'd rather take a powersword and plasma weapon into battle, thanks very much. Especially when they're housed in a hulking suit of Cataphractii power armour. Forgeworld has unveiled the Inner Circle Knights Cenobium, an elite team for Dark Angels players. At the moment, they're kitted out for the battlefields of the Horus Heresy, so Warhammer 40,000 players won't be able to teleport in and slaughter the foe with those tasty Plasma Casters, but that sergeant would make a phenomenal hero for any First Legion army.
Meanwhile, in the underhive, something massive this way comes! House of Chains, the latest update for Necromunda Underhive, will give players the chance to bring some oversized brutes to their next gang fight. The Ogryns might be dumb but they're also immensely strong and brutal in close combat - especially if upgraded with some terrifying augmetic weaponry! It also begs the question; if the Goliath book brings us an Ogryn gang, what will the other books bring us?!
Finally this week, your local Blackstone Fortress is about to be infested! In the No Respite expansion, the forces of Nurgle threaten to destroy Precipice and only you can stop them! As the clock ticks and your adventurers become corrupted, you'll have to square off against the Infested Brethren and destroy the plague nodes before the infection sets in... and all is lost! This looks like another narrative-heavy and characterful quest that we can't wait to play!
That's all for this week. Will you be taking on the forces of Nurgle, or outfitting an Ogryn for your next gang war? Or are you busy assembling a droid army to smash the republic? Let us know!

If you're one of those skirmish wargamers who thinks tanks are too big for the battlefield, you're going to want to take cover because Games Workshop are bringing out a new core set for Adeptus Titanicus. As well as all the rules, dice and associated grimdark paraphernalia you would expect, the set includes a pair of Reavers, Warhounds and Cerastus Knights. The Warbringer Nemesis Titan pictured above is a newcomer to the game, bringing a blaze of judgement in the form of a terrifying Volcano Cannon.
It's a great time to be a Goliath ganger! The new Necromunda Underhive supplement House of Chains gives a whole new range of options to the muscleheads from the forge, even including Orgyn slaves! The new miniatures for the Prospects are fantastic - these young hot-heads are desperate to prove themselves and join the gang proper!
Aeronautica Imperialis: Wings of Vengeance is getting a new boxed set, featuring the Astra Militarum and the T'au! The models for this game have always been stunning, evoking a World War II aesthetic. The new set looks to continue that trend, with the T'au Air Caste vessels being especially awesome.
Sticking with the T'au for a moment, the next Psychic Awakening book, The Greater Good, includes new rules, stratagems and upgrades to bring your alien force up to date. The tome also includes new rules for the Astra Militarum, Genestealer Cults and the deadly Ordo Tempestus!
Games Workshop have given Beastgrave players a closer look at the terrifying Wurmspat warband. These shambling horrors have been blessed by Grandfather Nurgle and have access to a new kind of ploy with the Cycle keyword. These ploys stay in play until the end of the turn, or until another ploy is played, showing how Nurgle's vile gifts refuse to vanish from the field!
There's change in store for KeyForge players as the new 2-player starter set Mass Mutation is unleashed upon the Crucible! With weird new interpretations of existing characters, hulking monstrosities and the return of a familiar house, this set is going to shake everything up!
It isn't just KeyForge characters who are undergoing change... the B1 Battledroids are getting an upgrade too! Star Wars Legion continues to explore the Clone Wars era with the fearsome B2 Super Battledroids Unit Expansion. Durable and well-armed, expect these ruthless brutes to spray laser death and screaming rockets across the field, annihilating everything in their path!
So what caught your eye this week? Will you be adding to your droid army, expanding your Goliath gang, paying tribute to Nurgle, or stomping on buildings with your Reaver Titans? Let us know!

Now, we know what you're thinking. "The elves! The pointy, posh elves! They're back!" And yes, you're right. But they've only been gone for a few years. That's a mere blink of an eye compared to how long the Warhammer 40,000 universe has been without Zoats. This is a glorious model, full of sinister, otherworldly menace, and was clearly a labour of love for the design team. We imagine this fiendish personage will be wreaking havoc in the Blackstone Fortress!
Don't worry, the Zoat was just to clear the palate. Here's the real thing. Games Workshop's reveals from the Las Vegas Open are mind-blowing across the board, but the Lumineth Realm-Lords (or 'point elves' in the common tongue) stand head and shoulders above the rest. The relaunch of Games Workshop's fantasy range coincided with a huge leap in what the design team was capable of doing, and this model in particular highlights that. It's a hollow suit of armour. Posing with its swords at the ready. It's bonkers and I absolutely love it.
Also returning to Age of Sigmar is Teclis, a key character in the history of the Warhammer World and the Mortal Realms. We're sure he's going to have access to some stunning abilities and we can't wait to see the rules.
Also revealed was another warband for Warhammer Underworlds. The Wurmspat are a bunch of fetid and fearsome Rotbringers who are sure to bring disease, jank and misery to their foes!
Before we move on from the smorgasbord of goodness unleashed at LVO 2020, we need to talk about the Skitarii. Not only are these guys some of the most detailed, unique and characterful models in the range, they're getting even more new additions. Chief of which are the Serberys Sulphurhounds. It's hard to get over how cool these are. The poses are dynamic, the detail is dazzling and they're going to look great harrying the foe as the Martian winds whip around them.
Those kind-hearted souls at Warhammer Community have published a helpful guide to the Spire Tyrants warband for Warcry. So if you're looking for aggression and versatility, check it out!
Sticking with Warcry, there's a reveal of the rules behind a truly magnificent model, the Ogroid Myrmidon. What a model, and what a fearsome unit to have on the table!
Updates continue to emerge for CMON's excellent wargame, A Song of Ice and Fire: The Miniatures Game. Now it's the turn of the Night's Watch, Free Folk and Commanders of the Watch! So if you want to find out how your armies just got a whole lot tougher for your opponent to deal with, check the articles out now!
From bloodsoaked fantasy battlefields to a galaxy far, far away, FFG have unleashed the Phase 2 Clone Troopers Expansion for Star Wars Legion! More mobile than the previous generation, this tough and versatile unit can bring all manner of devastating weapons and tricky toolkits into battle, from the mortar launcher to grappling hooks.
Finally this week, Steamforged Games have given birth to a devastating menace from the deep, Raith'Marid! Rolling across the table like a tidal wave, he brings a new arsenal of abilities to games of Godtear. Able to effectively teleport across the board by vanishing and replacing any one of his followers, gain boons whenever a follower is removed, move as part of attacking, or reposition enemies with fearsome headbutts, this fiend is one to watch!
We did warn you it was a wild one this week. With so many awesome new releases on the horizon, let us know which ones will be making their way onto your wargaming table!
]]>Reinforcements incoming! With X-Wing second edition covering classic Star Wars, First Order and Clone Wars eras, there's something for everyone with this new set of releases from FFG. The Xi-class shuttle provides cutting-edge tech to Snoke's forces, along with some dastardly elite pilots.
The iconic LAAT/i gunship is a versatile support vessel that enables players to bring Jedi heroes like Plo Koon to the starfield, while the characterful HMP Droid Gunship can be outfitted to deal with a variety of enemies and is crammed with heavy weapons systems.
Steamforged Games have given Godtear players a closer look at Halftusk, the hulking and brutish warden of the Stonekin Isle. This guy hits like a truck and until he takes wounds, his attacks deal extra damage. Fortunately for Halftusk, he can also regenerate lost wounds, enabling him to soak up an incredible amount of damage as the game progresses. His troglodyte followers can enter objective hexes, making it more difficult for opponents to place those all-important banners.
CMON have teased new images of the Stormcrow for A Song of Ice and Fire: The Miniatures Game! These skilful mercenaries are adaptable, with the option of gaining free attacks and lieutenants. If you're seeking a ranged attack option, the Stormcrow archers can also gain free attacks instead of regaining wounds, so armies designed to hit fast and hard, capitalising on enemy mistakes, are going to enjoy fielding these units.
We're still buzzing with excitement about the Adeptus Sororitas, and Games Workshop has released an article explaining how your Order Conviction choice will affect how your army fights. Stoic Endurance, for example, makes your troops hardier, shrugging off wounds and ignoring -1 Save modifiers.
These options give players the chance to tailor their forces depending on the threats you might be facing. Add an Imagifier to the list and you'll be able to select another option from the Litany of Deeds - giving you the edge you need.
So which Order Conviction will you be utilising in battle? And will the Stormcrow mercenaries be filling a gap in your battle line? Let us know!

Sisters of Battle players have plenty of reasons to rejoice in the wake of Games Workshop's New Year Open Day 2020. With a whole host of stunning new models, you'll be able to melt, burn and blow your opponents apart! The Penitent Engines are exquisitely (and grimly) detailed, and the plastic kits allow these large models to be posed in a more dynamic way, lurching towards the foe with flaying and slaying in mind.
New units like the Zephyrim, Retributors and Battle Sanctum are on their way, enabling players to put a formidable force together using just the new models. We think you'll agree that they look beautiful. Start preparing your wallets for the onslaught now!
Continuing with the theme of highly-skilled warrior women from the grimdark, Tau heroine O'Shaserra - AKA Commander Shadowsun - is getting a fantastic new sculpt. We love this dynamic pose, and the option of a helmed or bare-headed design. With flechette launchers and fusion blasters, she's a veritable arsenal that can deal with any threat.
Warhammer Underworlds continues to grow with a new warband for Beastgrave: Hrothgorn's Mantrappers. With his pet monster and a rabble of greenskin lackeys, he's going hunting and every other warband is on the menu!
Games Workshop has given us all a glimpse of the rules for the new Endless Spells for followers of Tzeentch. With these new sorceries, you'll be able to spawn extra limbs to boost your attacks, turn models into Chaos Spawn, re-roll casting rolls, reduce the bravery of enemy units and more. The models are gorgeous and I can see miniature painters having a blast with these.
Forge World have put a new Blood Bowl Thrower on the transfer market. Gloriel Summerbloom isn't just a perfect display miniature, her rules can be found in several places including the Head Coach's Handbook, so you can field her as soon as you've got her painted!
Switching our focus to a galaxy far, far away, Fantasy Flight Games have released more information on the Imperial, First Order and Scum pilots found in the Hotshots and Aces Reinforcements Pack for X-Wing 2.0. Add critical damage with the Fifth Brother, drop devices all over the place with Vagabond, get the most out of reinforce tokens with Morna Kee and ensure that your turret is always facing the enemy with Nom Lumb. There are some awesome abilities here for pilots from every faction.
Finally, there's a new champion on the way for Godtear! Lorsann can fire and fade, offering players the ability to reposition, and can also maximise damage against targets that have already been wounded!
That's all for this week. Before you rush off you plan your Sisters of Battle purchases, don't forget that our Winter Sale is scheduled to end on the 10th of January, so you have until this Friday to save on some world-class tokens and terrain!
]]>One of the releases that got under our skin recently was Godtear from Steamforged Games. Blasting out of the post-Christmas murk comes Blackjaw, a new champion for this fantastic game. Adept at destroying grouped enemy followers with a wealth of flame-based attacks, he's also capable of gaining a bonus action. With his Unburnt Reavers rushing across the battlefield to close with the enemy early doors, his force can intimidate opponents, reducing their effectiveness and preparing them for Blackjaw's monstrously powerful Fire Storm. Check out the video here!
Games Workshop is rounding off the year with the announcement of another battlebox, once again crammed with gorgeous miniatures. This time it's the turn of the forces of Disciples of Tzeentch and Kharadron Overlords to duke it out... in the air! The twist of this new box is that both forces will be making full use of new aerial combat rules, which will add yet another aspect to the game of Age of Sigmar.
The Disciples of Tzeentch will be bolstered by an upcoming set of Endless Spells, such as the Daemonic Simulacrum. We can see this army being a real visual feast.
Players of the Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game rejoice! Unless you're aligned to the people of Rohan, of course, because the Dunlendings are here. With the axe-wielding heroes of Dunland, the heavily-armoured Huscarls, and ferocious horsemen who can reroll wound rolls of 1 against mounted foes, you'll be able to crush even the most dreaded enemy forces... especially the hated Rohirrim!
Fantasy Flight Games have announced a new release for X-Wing 2.0 in the form of the Hotshots and Aces Reinforcements Pack. With 16 ship cards for the five factions and 31 upgrade cards, there'll be something for every player. The new pilots aid in handling stress and delivering bombs, and with a host of new tech - including Stabilised S-Foils for B-Wings - this set is sure to shake up the meta!
Finally this week, FFG have released some more information about how their organised play will be shaping up over the next year. Hyperspace games will focus on 'curated pilot lists' and ships cycling in and out on a rotational basis, offering a challenge for new and veteran players alike. The Extended game mode will still allow players to make use of their ship collections, and there's some interesting news about the World Championship and Invitational events. If you're an ace on the competitive scene, you need to check out what's planned for 2020!
Before you go, here's a friendly reminder to make the most of our 15% discount before the 10th of January! Just use the code 'itschristmas' and get more for your money on tokens and terrain for your favourite wargames! Check out the webstore now!
That's all for this week. We'd love to hear about what hobby goodies you got for Christmas, and what you've been playing over the holiday season!
]]>It's nearly Christmas, and gamers the world over are wondering what awesome new kits, armies and rulebooks will be waiting for them under the tree. But since we're in the middle of another golden age of tabletop gaming, the new releases aren't stopping just for the festive season.
But before we delve into the news, remember that you can get 15% off any order from our webstore using the code 'itschristmas'. The code's valid until January 10th, so whatever new games Santa brings you, we've got a stunning token set ready and waiting for you!
First up, let's take a look at the latest superweapon available on pre-order from Forgeworld. The Macro-Gatling Blaster provides your Warlord titan with a terrifying rate of fire. Any infantry models targeted by this weapon are forced to take a pinning test - if they survive!
We're big fans of how X-Wing 2.0 has made a great game even better. Well, the galaxy is about to become even more interesting! With the Never Tell Me The Odds Obstacles Pack players not only get more asteroids, debris fields and gas clouds, they also gain access to special environment cards to further augment how these obstacles affect the game. Check out the details here!
Alongside this, the Fully Loaded Devices Pack adds templates and upgrade cards, as well as new ways to incorporate minefields into your games.
Can you hear the sound of thunder, rolling across the plains? It can only mean one thing - A Song of Ice and Fire: the Miniatures Game is getting a starter set for House Targaryen! Featuring speedy units of cavalry, mounted troops armed with ranged weapons and iconic characters including Khal Drogo, this set brings together stunning miniatures and deadly abilities to add even more depth to this excellent game.
Finally this week, we can now take a close look at a new captain for Guild Ball - Veteran Greede! With the ability to move friendly models using a 6" pulse, and push players around using Persuasion, he's a fascinating string-puller.
We can see that Veteran Greede is going to make his team really flexible, making up for having five players rather than six. Experienced players are going to be able to pull off some amazing plays with this. Other abilities, like Lance and Shelling Out, make Veteran Greede - and allies in 4" - hit a bit harder, and can even boost any Momentum gained through taking out opposition players!
That's all from us for this edition of Frontline News, but we're sure you'll agree that some of these new releases are going to shake things up a little! Have a wonderful festive period, and remember to take advantage of our Christmas discount while you can! Happy gaming!
