Frontline News!

The Summer Holidays might be over, but that doesn’t mean that the games have to stop. Let’s take a look at the latest releases in another edition of Frontline News!

ffg star wars BTL y-wing

Starting with Star Wars X-Wing 2.0, Fantasy Flight Games have given us all a look at the new BTL-B Y-Wing. Adding some muscle to Galactic Republic squadrons, it offers a tough platform that can be heavily customised.

Compared to the old-school Y-Wing, with it’s stripped-back look, this is a very pretty ship. With a range of pilots with interesting abilities, a turret and an astromech slot, players can unlock some fascinating combinations. As a bomber, the Y-Wing excels, but it can now be moulded into many different configurations.

gotrek age of sigmar games workshop

Games Workshop has unleashed the well-known hero Gotrek Gurnisson, who has been hacking up monsters for decades. Now he’s back, and butchering his way through the Mortal Realms. Order Generals will be able to field this tireless warrior in their games of Age of Sigmar soon!

 age of sigmar ossiarch

Also coming to Age of Sigmar are the Ossiarch Bonereapers! The models are incredible, and we fully expect these fiends to be as durable to enemy attacks as they are vicious in combat. They’re reminiscent of Necrons… which hints at a deeper connection between the fantasy and sci-fi wings of the Games Workshop universe, so it’s going to be interesting to see where this goes!

warcry chimera

WarCry hasn’t been out of its cage very long but already we’ve seen a glimpse of the new expansion. Monsters and Mercenaries adds depth to the game, enabling players to bind to their will a range of new units, including heroes and champions. There’s also a chimera, which looks absolutely stunning. This is clearly a game that is going to grow and grow!

aeronautica imperialis marauder

Wings of Vengeance is on pre-order now. We talked last week about how sweet those models are, evoking a real World War II aesthetic. The game is already prepped to expand beyond the starter box with ground defences, new pilot card packs and units including the gorgeous-looking Marauder Destroyer.

aeronautica imperialis

There’s a dedicated site for the game, with a helpful guide on how to play. It looks like a lot of fun!

ares gunship

A little closer to the ground, you might spot an Ares Gunship swooping over the enemy lines, dropping bombs and vapourising tanks with the montrously powerful Arachnus Magna-Blaze Cannon. The Custodes have had their datasheets updated too!

shrike corax 40k

Staying with Warhammer 40,000, there’s a new campaign on the way that is set to change the galaxy forever. Psychic Awakening is an event that cannot be missed, and we can’t wait to see what effect it has on the setting. The Raven Guard have a new hero, with the Son of Corax swooping forth to spearhead the assault!

sisters of battle 40k

Finally for our Games Workshop news, the wait is over! The Sisters of Battle have been revealed and they are just beautiful. Distinct enough to stand apart from the Adeptus Astartes, they really are full of character.

sisters of battle 40k

From the box-art on the Army Set to the Seraphim, this is an army that will stand out on the battlefields of the 41st Millenium.

asoiaf night's watch

Finally this week, CMON have revealed another unit for A Song of Ice and Fire. The Veterans of the Watch give Night’s Watch players a tough and courageous elite unit to bolster their armies. Able to cause automatic hits by blocking enemy attacks, and almost impossible to break, they’ll strike fear into the heart of the foe.

So with new armies for 40k and Age of Sigmar, new games of dogfighting and expansions about for your favourite games, what are you going to buy first? Let us know what’s got you excited this week!
