Stay sharp, reader. There’s a chance to save some gold coins coming up...
There are many ways a coach can care for the team. Orange slices at half time, a few pints of Bugman’s Ale after the game, or (if you’re Orcs) a massively violent ruck to celebrate smashing the ‘umies. One way to show appreciation for their hard work on the pitch is to buy them some new tokens!
Our Blood Bowl token sets have proven really popular, and it’s great to see this classic game still going strong. The community is buzzing and there are events all over the world. So infectious is the enthusiasm around this game that I’m currently putting my Nurgle’s Rotters together, preparing to get on the pitch and… well, spread some disease, probably.
The design team pulled out all the stops with these sets. Not only did they need to pop like crazy on the table, they also needed to be practical. So we used our own experience, and drew on the amazing resource of our local player base to hone these sets so that they offer the perfect balance between aesthetics and playability.
To this end, we produced template sets with range rulers, scatter templates, throw-in templates and more. Alongside these were the status tokens. We noticed with the Necromunda range how vital it is for players to be able to buy booster packs of specific tokens, so we’ve got full sets and boosters ready and waiting. Then, to help you keep track of whether you’re trying to pass through thick, miasmal mists or struggling under an intense heat, we designed some super-cute weather tokens.
As ever, players are free to choose a suitable colour for their templates. I have a gloriously lurid green for the Rotters, which is going to suit them perfectly. Also, rather than use a white crayon, I'm using yellow. For extra chaotic pus nastiness. I've only done one token so far, but you can see how cool the templates are without crayon, and what a difference the crayon makes!
When it comes to using the tokens, you can of course play with them right out of the bag. Just peel the protective tape off and go! If you want to spruce them up, as we have in the photos, all you need is some crayon and a decent cloth (we recommend crayola crayons, as they don’t clump up like some cheaper brands, and microfibre cloths). Just grind the crayon into the gaps and them rub the excess off with the cloth. Tokens getting dull because of all those sweaty Orc fingerprints? Buff them again, and maybe add a couple of drops of nail varnish remover to the cloth. They’ll look good as new in seconds.
The tokens arrive with a protective tape coating. Just peel it off and play!
Thanks for reading. We hope you’re loving Blood Bowl as much as we are at the moment. Show us a pic of your teams below and enter a prize draw for 15% off Blood Bowl tokens! We’ll draw the winner on Sunday night (that’s UK time, not Mordheim time. Just FYI).
