Board Games Exhibition At The V&A!

Board Games Exhibition At The V&A!

Here's some news sure to tantalise all you gamers out there - there's a new board game exhibition set to take centre stage at the V&A Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green later this year, on between October 8th and April 23rd 2017.

We absolutely love the sound of Game Plan: Board Games Rediscovered and you can bet your bottom dollar that we'll be there as soon as it opens to check it all out and report back on it for you. Apparently, all the old family favourites will be included from Cluedo and Trivial Pursuit to chess, while there will also be some historical games that you might not have come across before, like The Game of the Goose. Can't wait to see how you play that one!

Over 100 objects will be included in the exhibition, with games from all over the world due to be showcased. What's more, you can even have a go at an interactive game that will encourage people to think about their own game playing experiences and what kind of board game player they are.

"Board games are played by everyone, young and old. They have a universal appeal that transcends cultural and language barriers. They can both teach and entertain us. The playing of board games is embedded into our culture, not just the games themselves but the act of playing, the interaction with family and friends, the lessons learned and the fun to be had," the V&A writes on its website.

Sounds pretty good to us! And if you're not convinced, check out this study that recently revealed that puzzle and brain training games can help improve your working memory, processing speed and executive functions - so keep your mind alive by playing a few board games from time to time!
