This week we bring big guns, bounty hunters, augmented brutes, blighted insurgents and a rolling blob of corpulent flesh just itching to devour you and your allies. Let's dive right into another edition of Frontline News!
It's been a good week for Star Wars Legion, with several new units announced. First of all, professional Bounty Hunter Cad Bane has waded into the fight, and will use his electro gauntlets to hold enemies in place while you blast them... if your money's good, that is!
Senator Padmé Amidala is just as comfortable on the battlefield as she is in the debating chamber. Expect her to act as a force multiplier, improving allied units and helping the army keep its shape as the battle rages.
The Galactic Republic is sending in its elite warriors! ARC Troopers swoop in on their jetpacks, sniping the enemy at range or utilising an array of upgrades to fulfil any role their general requires of them.
Not to be outdone, the Seperatist assembly-lines have churned out scores of vicious killer robots. The BX Series Droid Commandos feature advanced intelligence, enabling them to catch the enemy unawares with deadly ambushes and subterfuge, but can also lay down withering fire when the situation demands it. If you prefer getting up close and personal with the foe, equip them with vibroswords and deflector shields and watch the enemy scatter in terror... or be cut down!
If you're looking for an awesome centrepiece for your army - or a means of smashing the enemy line at range - the AAT Trade Federation Battle Tank is sure to fit the bill. With a wealth of ammunition and crew options, the AAT can mow down infantry and punch through armour with fearsome ease, forcing the foe to deal with it while the rest of your army marches onward.
Switching from galactic conflict to a war-ravaged fantasy realm, Grimgut has emerged from the mire to dominate the game of Godtear. With his ability to remove his retchling servants from the board and spew them up via recruit actions, he can redeploy his forces at will. His minions can launch slime attacks against multiple enemies, and are also able to benefit from increased speed with their 'slip and slide' skill. So if you fancy fielding something slimy, hungry and disgusting, Grimgut is the guy for you!
If you prefer your armies a little cleaner and shinier, the Lumineth Realmlords should fit the bill. With their sunmetal spears and exquisitely crafted armour, the Vanari Auralan Wardens make for stunning miniatures, bringing a touch of old-school elven class to Games Workshop's Age of Sigmar universe. We can't wait to see what a whole army of Lumineth looks like. (I literally cannot wait; I collected High elves years ago! - Grantt)
Now spears are all well and good, but I'd rather take a powersword and plasma weapon into battle, thanks very much. Especially when they're housed in a hulking suit of Cataphractii power armour. Forgeworld has unveiled the Inner Circle Knights Cenobium, an elite team for Dark Angels players. At the moment, they're kitted out for the battlefields of the Horus Heresy, so Warhammer 40,000 players won't be able to teleport in and slaughter the foe with those tasty Plasma Casters, but that sergeant would make a phenomenal hero for any First Legion army.
Meanwhile, in the underhive, something massive this way comes! House of Chains, the latest update for Necromunda Underhive, will give players the chance to bring some oversized brutes to their next gang fight. The Ogryns might be dumb but they're also immensely strong and brutal in close combat - especially if upgraded with some terrifying augmetic weaponry! It also begs the question; if the Goliath book brings us an Ogryn gang, what will the other books bring us?!
Finally this week, your local Blackstone Fortress is about to be infested! In the No Respite expansion, the forces of Nurgle threaten to destroy Precipice and only you can stop them! As the clock ticks and your adventurers become corrupted, you'll have to square off against the Infested Brethren and destroy the plague nodes before the infection sets in... and all is lost! This looks like another narrative-heavy and characterful quest that we can't wait to play!
That's all for this week. Will you be taking on the forces of Nurgle, or outfitting an Ogryn for your next gang war? Or are you busy assembling a droid army to smash the republic? Let us know!
